Adelaide Wireless Network
The Adelaide Wireless Network is a spin-off of The Canberra Wireless Network.
Like The Canberra Wireless network, The Adelaide Wireless Network
is an effort by a bunch of Linux enthusiasts to build a high speed wireless
network in some parts of Adelaide and its surrounding area's. If you are
interested then I suggest that you start by looking at the mailing
list archives and join the mailing
list. By reading through the archives you'll get an idea of what progress
has been made in the national effort. The Canberra Wireless Network home
page is at http://www.air.net.au/
.
The Adelaide Wireless Network has not been active for some time, and we
recomend checking out a more active local group called
Air Stream who seem to be picking
up interest in South Australia.
Please check back here for more information and updates on a national effort
to co-ordinate wireless networks in Australia.
Linux SA User Group
So far, the Linux SA User Group hasn't been active in this project, but
If you want to be involved in Linux
SA , please visit their website for more details.
Helical antenna design
Jason Hecker from the original Canberra
Wireless Network has an excellent document on his helical
antenna design.
Network addressing and subdomains
We plan to have a registry of network addresses. Send mail to noc@cw.net.au
to nominate your network address in the 10.x.x.x address space.
Names and subdomain delegations in the air.net.au domain may be obtained
by contacting the Network Operations Centre
Network Use
This project is not intended to supply access to the internet, even though
the network may be connected to the Internet at various points. The network
will not be intended for commercial use. The network will be for resource
sharing, and to help expand knowledge about Wide Area Networking.
Thanks
Thanks to Ben Elliston , the
owner of the air.net.au
domain for providing namespace under the air.net.au domain.
